This is an estimate only. It is meant as a guideline. Living costs vary greatly based on the type of accommodation, whether you are sharing accommodation with roommates, and your overall standard of living. All figures are based on a single person and in Canadian dollars (CAD).

    Accommodation & Food

    • There are two on campus residences for students, McEowan Park located within walking distance, just south of the main campus buildings, and Voyageur Place located in the heart of campus. Information on the costs of the various rooms, including a meal plan, can be found at the UofS Residence website.
    • Many graduate students choose to live off-campus in general rental accommodation. Prices vary greatly depending on the distance from the campus, and if it is shared accommodation. One or two bedroom apartments, on the east side of the river, within walking distance to campus, are more expensive. To estimate the current costs for off-campus rental accommodation, do a website search for rental apartments in the City of Saskatoon.

    Personal Needs

    • Costs for clothing and personal items, entertainment and cell phones are highly variable depending on the person. You should plan to spend a similar amount to what you typically spent as an undergraduate student.
    • Depending on where you come from, you may have the additional expense of purchasing winter clothing. This would include a parka, hat and gloves, and winter boots for a minimum cost of about $250.

    Transportation

    • Students can purchase a subsidized city bus pass for the fall and winter terms. Bus passes for the spring/summer term must be purchased on a monthly basis.
    • Current rates for a post secondary semester pass and a monthly bus pass are posted on the Saskatoon Transitwebsite.
